BREAKOUT #1
Classroom Management 101
So often as teachers, we are so bogged down dealing with classroom behaviors over and over, that we are not able to do what we truly love: teach. I am so excited to bring you a management system that doesn’t use tokens, economies, or points… and instead focuses on rules and consequences with clear and consistent follow through. Let’s focus on creating a classroom environment where both YOU and YOUR STUDENTS will thrive this year.
Bringing the WOW Factor to Your Classroom
I have the secret sauce to keep your students' attention and have them learning (and excited about it) from bell-to-bell. Join me for this session for strategies and insights to create lessons that your students will love. You'll learn all about the WOW Factor, which includes helping your students become intrinsically motivated to learn a topic, ensuring your students understand and retain the content without feeling overwhelmed, and extending student required knowledge. I can't wait to see you there!
Plan to Succeed: Practical Lesson Planning Strategies
Lesson planning is like laundry. Once you think you’re finished, there’s more to be done. That’s why it’s crucial to have strategies and systems in place to streamline your lesson planning right from the beginning. Can you imagine walking into school on Monday morning with everything you need to teach ready to go for the entire week? It is possible! Let’s create your plan for realistic and practical lesson planning this coming school year.
Phonics 101: What to Teach and How to Teach It!
If you're like many of us, your college preparation program didn't teach you much about phonics and its critical role in the primary grades. In this presentation, Savannah will teach you the fundamental phonics rules that educators should know in order to ensure all children learn how to read. Attendees will learn about the rules of English and then gain practical strategies for how to teach them in their classroom. This presentation is both the why and the how, and is a must-watch for any teacher who just doesn't know where to start!
BREAKOUT #2
Finding Success AND Joy in the Classroom
We all want to be effective teachers. But is it possible to be effective AND still feel joy in the classroom? The answer is YES! In fact, a joyful teacher IS an effective teacher! During this session, I’ll share my top 5 priorities that have promoted success for both my students and myself. These priorities have helped me remain fulfilled, refueled, and excited about the future of education. Together, we will explore how you can find your own joy and happiness in the classroom, regardless of your circumstances. I can’t wait to see you there!
Foundations for Creating a Welcoming & Culturally Inclusive Classroom
In this session I will share 3 keys needed to create classroom where ALL your students are affirmed, welcomed, and celebrated through instruction. Each key will be shared along with practical ideas for immediate implementation. Let me give you the tools to elevate your lessons and empower your students.
Making Memories with Music in the Classroom
"If it makes it to the dinner table, you win." This quote from educational speaker, Steve Spangler, has been a mantra for me. It made me consider an important question: what parts of our school day make the biggest positive impact? And it turns out, I found the answer. In this session, I'll share with you how classroom songs have transformed my classroom for the better, becoming the most talked about and loved thing amongst my students and classroom families. And not to worry, no vocal skills are required!
Classroom Control: Tips & Tricks for Effective Behavior Management
Let’s talk about classroom control 🙌🏼
During the third annual College 2 Classroom Success Summit, Emma from @taylor.tackles.everything is sharing tips and tricks for effective behavior management!
During her session she will dive into different consequence techniques along with how to manage the every day chaos!
How to Create Adapted Books to Increase Active Engagement!
In this session, you will learn how to create adapted books that will help you increase engagement with your young autistic students and children with special needs. I will be walking you through, step-by-step, showing you how to adapt any book to make it more accessible to your young learners. Adapted books make books "hands-on" and can increase vocabulary and social skills. Whether you want to use adapted books in a 1:1 setting or in a small group with your students, you are going to love the results! Adapted books have been a game changer in my classroom, and I just know they will be in your classroom too!
BREAKOUT #3
Managing Your Classroom with Routines and Procedures
Classroom management and behavior management are by far two of the biggest hitters that most teachers seem to struggle with and unfortunately, can be one of the main contributors to teacher burnout. Often times, teachers turn to incentive programs which are great, but are just a bandaid to a much bigger problem. During the third annual @college2classroom Success Summit @mrskayladurkin is going to walk you through exactly how to manage your classroom by effectively implementing routines and procedures right from the start, so that you can focus on all your favorite parts of teaching, instead of trying to put out fires and manage behaviors all day long.
Supporting ALL Students In Your Classroom!
As a former preschool self contained teacher, I have learned a lot about meeting the needs of each individual student. Now, being in the second grade inclusion classroom, I am able to bring what I learned from my self contained teaching days to meet the news of ALL of my students. In this presentation I will give you tips and tricks for encouraging independence in your students, using supports to help them get through their day, organizing your room in a way that benefits you and your students, and SO MUCH MORE!
Creating a Student-Centered Classroom with Choice
Let's chat about how to get that student buy-in we all dream about as teachers. I am excited to help you create a student-centered classroom where students take ownership of their learning. How does this magical dream come true? Student choice is the key ingredient and I cannot wait to show you how to implement that in your own classroom before students ever step foot in your classroom.
3 Routines Every Teacher Needs to Maximize Planning Time
Worried about how you're going to get everything done without burning out? It's no secret that teacher to-do lists are long and planning times tend to be short. But that' doesn't mean you have to work 24/7. Learn how to easily maximize your planning time with these 3 simple routines, so you can focus on the best part of your job: teaching!
BREAKOUT #4
Get Your Students Excited About Reading and Writing
Reading and writing doesn’t need to be boring. In this session, you’ll discuss strategies and ideas to keep your students interested and engaged all year long. During your time together, Jen will go over daily and weekly routines you can easily implement in the classroom, and you will also discuss activities and ideas to keep lessons fun! Year after year, Jen has students tell her that they used to hate reading, but now they really enjoy it, and soon, that will be your students too!
Level Up Your Group Work Time
Raise your hand if you want to step up your students’ collaboration and group work time! As a one of the cofounders of @college2classroom, it has always been a goal to provide the most beneficial resources and strategies new teachers (or any teacher) can implement in their classroom to:
A. Elevate their instruction & learning
B. Alleviate stress and planning
These group work strategies are ones I utilized in my classroom weekly, if not daily. My student teachers and the new teachers I mentored have taken these into their own classrooms, and I’m so thrilled to bring them to YOU! Join my session on June 27th to Level Up Your Group Work Time building MUCH NEEDED collaboration and accountability skills WHILE still being engaging! I AM CONFIDENT they’ll work in yours (no matter what grade or subject you’re teaching).

Wednesday, June 27th!
At 9:25 am CT, we will eagerly open up the Zoom meeting and begin greeting all of the astonishing teachers who are joining us for an amazing day of learning, laughter, and connection.
Our day will consist of:
Introduction
Four Breakout Sessions
4-5 presenters per breakout
Closing Remarks
How breakout rooms work:
During each breakout, you will have four to five presentations to choose from. We highly suggest taking note of which presentations you’d like to attend ahead of time, to be sure that you’re ready to rock n’ roll as we only have quick five-minute transitions before each session/breakout.
During the transition, the breakout room topics will be posted and you will be able to hop into the room of your choice. Each breakout room session will last 40 minutes and will have a variety of content, exploration, time for Q/A, etc.
Once you’re in a room, we ask that you stay in that room for the remainder of the presentation out of respect for the presenter and attendees.
We know it’s going to be nearly impossible to choose which sessions to attend during the breakouts, but we do have a suggestion. Choose to attend the sessions that you have the most questions about, that way you can use the live face-to-face time to ask any questions you may have while the presenters are available.
We are pleased to share that each of the sessions will be recorded and the LIVE ticket attendees will receive four complimentary days to preview each of the recordings following the summit. If four days just isn’t enough time to soak in all of the fantastic content, be sure to grab a 30-day recordings pass.
Please note, you must attend the entire day to receive the session recordings. We will be taking attendance at a random time throughout the day. If your name is not on the attendance list, you will not receive access to the recordings.
If you have more questions about our day, please reach out to either Kayla or Sydney, we are happy to help however we can!
